Centraal Station / The first ‘station Slagveld’, station Delftsche Poort opened in 1848 completing the railway line between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The second station Delftsche Poort opened in 1877 and connects Rotterdam with Dordrecht. This station was located slightly to the north-west of the former ‘station Slagveld’, which was demolished after the opening of the second station in 1877. The second station Delftsche Poort was bombed in 1940. The third station on this location, Centraal Station, opened in 1957. The station closed in 2007 and has been demolished. Early in 2013 the new (fourth) Rotterdam public transport terminal was sufficiently completed to become operational and replaced the former station at the Weena.
